Is it possible the military is delaying the Bush administration and Vice President Cheney from preemptively attacking Iran? I’ve touched on this before, but the IPS News service reports today that the Joint Chiefs as well as other top officials in the Pentagon are opposed to war with Iran.

The White House has obviously been preparing for war with Iran by use of propaganda, provoking Iran, doubling up efforts in Iraq to try to secure it to devote troops to another war. A year ago little talk was heard about going to war with the Islamic Republic, but now it is on the forefront of everyone’s mind. There is almost always a question about preemptive strikes on Iran at the recent Democrat and Republican primary debates.

Do people truly think Iran is going to try to attack the United States and are a danger, or is it because Bush, Cheney, Rice and others have managed to turn the media into Iran attack dogs due to their repeated remarks about it being a terrorist state? The White House is already declaring the army of Iran a terrorist organization despite the military unit not being responsible for any outside terrorist attacks. IEDs, perhaps, but does anyone see those as terror plots? It is preemptive defense by the Iranians against the US Military without having direct confrontation.

Let us hope the US Military brass is truly bent on keeping us out of Iran. They may be our last resistance to the Cheney war machine.
