It’s official: The Neocons have “public support” to go to war with Iran
This is just released news as I’m writing this. The Neoconservatives now, according to a Zogby poll, have more than 30% support to go to war with Iran. They have 52% support.
Zogby’s latest poll says that:
A majority of likely voters - 52 percent - would support a U.S. military strike to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon, and 53 percent believe it is likely that the U.S. will be involved in a military strike against Iran before the next presidential election, a new Zogby America telephone poll shows.
Has America been brainwashed again? I thought I remember the neoconservatives saying they only wanted thirty or thirty five percent support before they shot missiles at Iran. Now they have more than majority support, and I am quite sure they are prepared to utilize the tyranny of the majority at this point for an unjust war.
Iran poses no threat, yet we are soon to attack them. They will never nuke us, but our attack of them is almost sure to result in Israel suffering and maybe even us–another excuse for a police state here at home. Thanks to their great propaganda machine which includes CNN and MSNBC and not just FOX, enough support has been gained among the populace to go to war with our nonthreatening “enemy.”
The worst part about this is it looks like the Democrat party is giving a lot of support to the war and believe Hillary is the best person to handle Iran. Is it because it actually appears Iran may be able to acquire nuclear weapons? I’m not sure. The entire Iraq process has been repeated, if they manage to keep this up, how high will the numbers go? Sixty or sixty-five percent?
In less than ten years the neoconservative philosophy has managed to convert most Americans into accepting preemptive war. They have majority support, at least according to the poll, to attack Iran despite the majority of Americans being war-weary from Iraq!
Ideas will win this battle in the long run, but it will take energy, courage and strength to combat the idea of preemptive war and neoconservatism.

Zogby polls zombies…
Polls themselves are an instrument of propaganda.
maybe that poll should have phrased that question “would you support a strike on iran even if Russia threatened to engage in WWIII against us if we did so?”
We have to face the fact that countries we hate will acquire nuclear weapons. We have over 40,000 of them. Let them have it. So what?
They can kill tens of thousands, once. If they are actually stupid enough to use one then we just blow them off the map. No nation building. Just a good old carpet bombing. In a week, we can level anybody.
All this terrorist crap is an excuse for governments to have more control of their population. Alcohol and Cigarrettes claim more American lives than terrorist, Iraq, or eveh Iran ever can, yet we are willing to bankrupt ourselves on them. What a freakin joke.
“One if by Land and the Lantern is Lit…”
Our Constitutional Republic has been destroyed. The foundation of American Liberty has been either distorted, erased or forgotten. Our entire planet is ruled by an oligarchy of established bankers, oilmen and global corporations. We the People find ourselves enslaved and intoxicated by an economic system that by design, destroys the prosperity, development and education of the Worlds Citizenry.
The Federal Reserve and its fiat monetary policy need to be abolished. The unconstitutional (and enslaving) 16th Amendment needs to be repealed. Congress needs to listen to the people and convene an Article V Convention so we may work towards restoring the Constitutional Republic that our “elected” officials have stolen from us and sold to the highest bidder within the corporatocracy.
Our government is allowing the corporate elite to successfully merge Canada, Mexico and the United States into a single supra-national entity, the North American Union - complete with its new currency the “Amero”, which will be ushered in just after the fabricated collapse of our economy. The fascist Tories within our government are working towards another false-flag attack similar to 9/11 to “justify” an attack on Iran and the further erosion of our civil liberties in America.
A Halliburton subsidiary, KBR has already been awarded a $385 million contract to construct “detention centers” in the United States. Any puppet President of the United States now has the power to enact martial law and fully transform America into a police state. The conditioned-complacent public in this country and all the Worlds Citizenry need to act now to save what few liberties we have left. Rediscover Patriotism. Resurrect Dissent. The time has come to ascend upon Washington and RESTORE THE REPUBLIC!
Polls can be very deceptive…just ask “the persuader” Frank Luntz, a political pollster who admittedly writes poll questions to get the results he wants.
There’s no question that people are easily manipulated though, especially by mainstream media.
Incidently, I emailed you Lance, not sure if you had read it yet. You can email me at ronpaul2008@bigstring.com. I may be interested in contributing some articles. Chris (Daily Liberty Research)

Fear not! Russia may ally with Iran to prevent a nuclear strike (remember mother Russia’s new, state of the art anti ballistic missle). Putin was in Iran last week to talk with Koumeni.

“According to the Iranian gay and lesbian rights group Homan, the Iranian government has put to death an estimated 4,000 homosexuals since 1980. According to Scott Long, director of the Human Rights Watch Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Rights Program, Iranians who are suspected of being gay commonly face torture. Hossein Alizadeh of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission said Iran gays live with “constant fear of execution and persecution and also social stigma associated with homosexuality.”
Maybe slapping Iran around a little isn’t such a bad idea.

I agree with this one. Liars make me sick.

VJND,
Assuming your stats are accurate, what legal grounds justify a preemptive US bombing — nuclear or conventional — of Iranian women, children, elderly people, and nuclear employees, by the thousands?
You have no good answer for that, do ya?
No. You don’t — just MSM propaganda, based on everything but solid evidence and constitutional and international law.
Go join the MeK (if you haven’t already) or some legitimate Iranian opposition group, and join the “pro-democracy” fray in Tehran if that’s what you want to happen. The United States has no moral or legal authority to change the political, economic, or social situation in any foreign country. Only Iranians are responsible for their fortune and fate.
Ever read the Algiers Accords? Or the UN-Nürnberg Principles? The US Constitution? Yeah… you have some studying to do, my genocide-minded fellow commenter.
This notion of attacking Iran is insane. They are accused of supporting terrorism. But in reality this is limited to Hezbollah, which is primarily interested in Israel, Lebanon and Syria. Iran also meddles in Iraq and Afghanistan. Well, imagine that China or Russia invaded Mexico and Canada and made it clear that the U.S. was next. Wouldn’t we meddle in Canada and Mexico? Of course we would.
Iran helped us in going after Osama bin Laden when we went into Afghanistan. They get no credit for this. As Colin Powell pointed out, we cannot expect them to talk to us when our pre-requisite for talking is that they give us all of the concessions that dialogue might lead to in advance.
Ahmadinejad will not be the president of Iran by the time they get a nuclear weapon, assuming they are producing them. I do assume this, as Iranians are not stupid. They have seen what happens to third world nations that do not have nuclear weapons. Again, in their position, we would be doing the same thing.
It is the United States that has invaded other nations. It is the United States which has attacked a sovereign nation which had not attacked us first. (This is a dangerous precedent, incidentally, if the Cold War is reborn with Russia. We used to be able to say with some credibility that we don’t do first strikes. That’s gone.
I am appalled by these poll numbers. Are Americans really that brain dead? If we could talk to the Soviet Union during the height of the Cuban missile crisis, why can’t we talk to the Iranians? Maybe because peace is simply not on the neocon agenda.
To quote Thomas Jefferson, “I hope our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us that the less we use our power the greater it will be.”
Must have been another crafted Frank Luntz style poll.
I cannot believe 52% of the nation is *that* stupid.
The media and the neocons have fully scared the American people. It scares me that the masses are so easily fooled. America does not need war with the Middle East. We are creating this holy war to help the Neocons grasp control and rule with an iron fist.
” In less than ten years the neoconservative philosophy has managed to convert most Americans into accepting preemptive war. ”
This is an inaccurate statement - most Americans do not accept the principle of pre-emptive war, no matter how you twist the poll data.
Rodrigo… if they kill tens of thousands of people, and then we blow them off the map, will it have been worth it to wait? Or should we have pre-emptively struck and saved thousands of innocent lives while killing thousands of terrorists?
First, like the blog… Second, pre-emptive strike talk is hilarious. Well, not really because it involves loss of life on both sides. I mean, the US hasn’t even finished/completed the war in Iraq and now it’s off to topple another Super power, Iran. I guess that is their M.O. because the US did the same thing in Afghan.
It’s time to start calling these polls what they really are.. LIES!
LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES LIES!
washedandforgiven — Who are these tens of thousands of people the Iranians are going to kill? Iran has not invaded any countries in modern history. They have had chemical and biological weapons for decades and have not used them for terrorist ends or attacked any other nations with them.
Iraq, backed by the United States, attacked Iran and started an eight year war. Who is the aggressor over there? It is the United States. We are acting like a bully.
You can use that hypothetical question, “What if they kill thousands of people? Shouldn’t we have eliminated them first?” and apply it to any country, including Canada, Switzerland or Vatican City.
All the neocons have to offer is fear. Where does their line of “thinking” lead? Where does it end? Unfortunately, it doesn’t end. It leads to perpetual war. And no country can survive long in such a state.
I wonder how we would kill “thousands of terrorists” by attacking Iran. Do you think that all Iranians are terrorists? Less than a month ago, Iranians were marching in the streets chanting “Death to the dictator!” If we bomb them, they will be chanting “Death to America!” and any chance of peaceful regime change from within will be gone.
We have no way of knowing where their nuclear facilities even are, let alone where “thousands of terrorists” are hiding. All that would happen if the U.S. attacks Iran is that some buildings would be destroyed and maybe their nuclear program would be set back a few years. Maybe. But they will get nuclear weapons eventually, if they really want to develop them. Why give them more reasons to hate us? Why give them more incentive to attack the U.S. someday? It’s crazy.
I cannot believe the Orwellian mindset so many people have these days. They really have bought into the notion that “War is Peace.” It’s sad and frightening.
Sun Tzu’s first rule of warfare is “know your enemy.” Before that, I would say, comes “Make sure they even ARE your enemy.” We seem to be picking the fights. All evidence is that Iran would like better relations with the U.S.
Most people who want to bomb Iran know nothing about Iran. They just watch too much of the mainstream media and fall for the propagnda.
Perhaps you should have read the comment I was responding to and then maybe you would understand my comment…
I did.
Ahh - the pollsters. The same guys that wanted us to believe that the Ron Paul rEVOLution is a scam. They will suffer endlessly when all is this is done!
Ask the same 52% if they are willing to pay $8.00/gallon for fuel, and risk driving the already shaky US economy into deep recession or worse. Ask them if they are willing to see their retirement savings disappear as a worldwide economic panic sends stocks into a tailspin, and hundreds of billions in wealth simply evaporate. Ask them if “protecting” Israel is worth hundreds, or indeed thousands, of dead American sailors, now sitting ducks in the Persian Gulf, floating in naval vessels that do not have the technology to protect themselves against Mach 2.5 Sunburn anti ship missiles.
The madness of war with Iran cannot be overstated. “Freeing” the Iranian people by bombing the hell out of them “protecting” the American people by driving or nation into bankruptcy; and wantonly risking the lives of our military people: Three more great ideas from the NeoNuts. Ask the 52% what they think of that.
The pilitians of America would do well to take the entire world in full confidnece before intiating any military action against Iran because they will have the world nto think that the Ameriacan nation is ready to fight for its pereived interest directly without seeing the whole reason behind the policies of the adversary. In todays world the nuke threat is not limited to America. Every for himself type policy ill not work for dealing the nuke threat and unnecessary atmosphere of tension will aflict the world which at the moment it can hardly afford.
“Has America been brainwashed again? I thought I remember the neoconservatives saying they only wanted thirty or thirty five percent support before they shot missiles at Iran.”
Where the hell did you come up with that number? Oh wait, you liberal, you don’t need facts.
Just exactly what is a “neoconservative?” Another pejorative added to the liberal lexicon to all them (you) over come an inferiority complex?
Regardless, your head-in-the-sand ignorance is reminiscent of Neville Chamberlain at the beginning of WWII. Just wishing bad people will go away has gotten millions killed.
What do you suggest we do, geo-political genious, sit around and wait till Iran delivers a nuke to Israel, EU (no big loss) or Saudi oil fields?
You guys crack me up.
This is what gets me about liberals, you would as soon give your freedom away than fight for it. What makes me even more sick is that I put myself out on those lines to fight for your freedom. The Iraq war would be over by now if talkers like you would quit tyeing our hands. In war innocent people die, get use to it. The problem is that we have tried to make war civil, war is not civil, it is ugly and should be left as such. My children should not be afraid every time they have to go to the airport and get on a plane. This is America!! have you forgot what real freedom is?? Oh thats right, most of you have never had it because of 9/11 or was that just propaganda. As far as I am concerned, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan can all burn. I will gladly pay the 8 dollars for gas. I have nothing against the people, just the ideology.
[...] “This is just released news as I’m writing this. The Neoconservatives now, according to a Zogby poll, have more than 30% support to go to war with Iran. They have 52% support.” Read the whole story atthe political inquirer. [...]
fastmetal seems to be just like Norman Podhoretz, seeing Nazis and Hitler in every situation. They think that everyone who opposes reckless foreign policy and misguided, immoral, pre-emptive attacks is a “Neville Chamberlain.” (”Quick! Let’s nuke Indonesia before they attack us and make us all Muslims!” Please…) It gets ridiculous hearing that same analogy over and over, especially when it has no application.
“Just exactly what is a ‘neoconservative’?”
A neocon is a pro-war leftist. Neocons are not traditional conservatives and they are certainly not libertarians or Constitutionalists. They are truly leftists in that they love government intervention in all human affairs, both foreign and domestic.
Neocons are big government interventionists and big spenders (and not just on defense.) They are more than willing to trade liberty for security, which will lead to neither. They have disdain for the Constitution, viewing it as a hindrance to their goals, rather than a wise and time-tested guide to protecting our liberty. Neocons prefer an excessivley strong executive branch. Neocons are authoritarians. Moreso all the time.
Neoconservatives are conservative in name only.
If one is observing things clearly, one sees that there is relatively little meaningful ideological difference between Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani. She’s more to the left on healthcare. He’s more to the right on taxes. So what? Their overarching view is exactly the same: government can do what it wants and the people must submit to the will of the state. And the Constitution, well, who needs that……..unless it suits their ends at the time?
Rudy said in a speech “Freedom is about authority.” Huh?
Neocons are the bigger threat to our freedom than terrorists. If our liberties are lost in America, it will not be due to outside forces. It will be because we gave them away ourselves. Without our freedom, security has no meaning at all.
Why would Iran nuke Israel? Seriously, what do they have to gain by doing that? Palestinians live in Israel. If Iran nuked Israel, Iran would cease to exist. They want to exist. They are not fools. These absurd arguments and scenarios coming from the defenders of the neocon ideology are based entirely on emotion and not reason. Fear is all the neocons really have to offer. Unfortunately, their solution to the boogeyman is perpetual war, financial ruin, loss of liberty…
The neocon vision will leave us with a country not worth living in. As Judge Napolitano put it with his new book, we need to be wolves not sheep. And he was not talking about an aggressive foreign policy. He meant that we should stop blindly letting our freedoms be taken away at home “for our own good,” for our (perceived) safety.
Restore the Republic! Ron Paul for president. He’s the only one making any sense.

Datasec “This is what gets me about liberals, you would as soon give your freedom away than fight for it. We are at the crossroads, and the Devil wants our soul.
from Critical Montage:
it should be noted that this Zogby poll showing a pro-war majority is an exception to other recent polls: e.g., the 12-14 October 2007 CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll reports that only 29% favor “military action in Iran” and 68% oppose it; and the 4-8 September 2007 CBS News/New York Times poll says that a mere 9% want “military action now,” 59% go for “diplomacy now,” and 24% even think that Iran is “not a threat” requiring any action

No doubt you do a lot of reading, but not much travel. I would suggest that you spend a little free time in Iran or Iraq and not in the military sense. How about a vacation? Upon your return you can tell us if you think they are a threat or not. (Don’t forget to have that little boy shine your shoes either) As far as standing up for the republic, I agree with you on this matter, however I believe you cannot do one without the other. Our government stopped working for the people years ago. what would your suggestions be to correct this problem?
The neocons have no intention on attacking Iran any time soon. They helped prop up this government by bombing Iraq, which was their intention. It’s going to be a psychological war of words, much like the cold war with the communists. Pretending to be against them, but in reality they’re not.
