…It Sucks, But I have to Defend Him

I really don’t want to, but I have to step in and say something about the demonization of Rudy.  Here’s the beginning of an article:

Does America have a future? Unfortunately we don’t have a lot of choices here. You want Rudy Giuliani, who dressed up as a woman and marched in the gay pride parade, and who has been profiteering off 9/11…

I think it’s about time we stopped mentioning Rudy’s drag moment.  Look, we all went to college.  For virtually all of us, there is some picture somewhere that could be used as blackmail if one of our friends wanted revenge.  Hell, maybe it’s already up on the Internet.  So, the fact that Rudy dressed up like a woman should have little to no bearing on his presidential campaign.  It’s not a real issue, and it’s nothing compared to his failed marriages/children who hate him.

Either way, I can’t hold it against the former mayor that he once neglected all dignity and was silly on camera, mostly because it’s a very American thing to do.

I am in no way a Giuliani supporter.  I’ll do my best to write a succinct article detailing the reasons Rudy will destroy America on another day.  My argument will stem from the last sentence of the quoted passage above.  Giuliani is demagoguing his way to popularity without considering the political complexities that so fill out modern world.  Issues, terrorists, and America are black and white to him, and we need a president who can make sophisticiated distinctions, not a president who cuts down on crime by arresting every vagrant in New York.

Let me stop.  That’s enough for now.  All I wanted to say was that there are plenty of reasons to not support Rudy’s bid for the presidency.  His cross dressing is not one of them.

  1. With defenders like you, who needs enemies. It would be better for Rep. Paul if you didn’t defend him. Oh. I meant Mr. Giuliani.
