Fred stepping up his game

The word on the street is Fred Thompson is acting like he actually might want to be president. A strong finish in South Carolina would definitely help the former senator, he’s in last place right now in the number of votes received in Iowa and New Hampshire combined.

I think he will do well in South Carolina, but not so well in Michigan, but still better than New Hampshire (I’m not sure he broke 1.5% of the vote there). We’ll see how it plays out in the next two weeks.

  1. He’s got a big endorsement he’s likely to drop during the debate on Fox. Maybe something like the NRA. This is the time that he should get fired up; the previous two contests have always required more resources than they are worth and- in modern short-attention-span politics of today, one needs to peak just a couple of weeks before the big contest in Feb. 5th. All you have to do is look at Rudy’s all be dead fortunes and Mitt’s perceived decline and McCain’s current ascendency. Fred will pull out the immigration enforcement chainsaw and carve up McCain and Huckabee in one massive stroke. If immigration enforcement is the topic going into Feb. 5th, Fred will do great.

Possibly there’s been some actual strategy involved on Fred’s side of the aisle that hasn’t been apparent?

That makes me distrust Thompson, the NRA is the group that gets to write the gun control legislation and they are pro-gun control. Disgusting organization these days.
