Mitt Romney endorsed John McCain

Last night Mitt Romney endorsed his “opponent,” the Arizona Senator John McCain. The wording of the first sentence was quite amusing:
Republican campaign dropout Mitt Romney endorsed John McCain for the party’s presidential nomination and asked his national convention delegates to swing behind the likely nominee.
It’s almost like the AP is comparing Romney to a high school dropout or something. No surprise, though, McCain is the media favorite this year in the Republican field.

I totally agree, and am glad I wasn’t the only one to noticed that insulting word choice. “Dropout” is not the proper term for a canidate that decides to support another canidate, rather than continuing his own campaign. It was a difficult, yet intellegent move, as he knew it would help his party to win the actual election.
A “dropout” is a canidate that wins the parties support and then lets them down by dropping the election (for personal reason, etc). Romney was never in that position.
As much as I would have liked him to keep going forward, it would not have been fair to take donations from hopeful people and waste that money.
Sadly, Obama lost any chance of gaining my vote with his even more negatitive remarks about Romney and Romney supporters.
When Romney and his supporters vote for McCain, and win the election, then they are welcome to call us all “voters”.
