Glenn Greenwald makes a solid argument about why we should dismiss the commentary about Jeremiah Wright or deal with the other white pastors who have made blatantly racist, homophobic, anti-Islamic, and anti-American statements in the past. Especially because those same pastors have advised presidents on foreign policy decisions as well as judicial appointments. Maybe the presidents at the time were trying to pay lip service to the evangelicals. Personally, I would want to distance someone who said Hurrican Katrina was the result of New Orleans’ welcoming homosexuals, not ask him for advice.

They spew their hate quite often too, but I guess if it’s against the evil A-rabs or the homosexuals, or (insert almost anything here), who cares right?
It’s a shame that we’re scared of the angry black man, but accepting of the comically racist white pastor. At least Wright has a reason to be angry. Does Robertson really have reason to hate homosexuals more than other sinners?
Name one politician running for president who has sat in the pews of these ‘angry white pastors’ and listened to them most Sunday for 20 years. For those politicians, they would have a serious problem. Asking a single point, specific opinion, or receiving an endorsement is a bit of a different matter
Name one politician (other than Obama and Huckabee) running for president (or other office) who has sat in the pews of these ANY pastors and listened to them most Sundays for 20 years. Do most of our candidates regularly attend church. Is this lack of committment to faith what you are looking for?
