I encourage everyone to read Barak Obama’s most recent speech.  Not the one about Blacks and Whites and why can’t we all just get along, the one about our security and freedom and why the Iraq war needs to end.

 Regardless of my beliefs about the role that government institutions should have in the lives of individuals, this is more important.  Even though I know that government regulation and intervention only hinders progress, this is more important.   While I am convinced that well intentioned liberal policies which alleviate personal responsibility are almost always destined to fail, still this is more important.  

I can not in good conscience place these previous concerns above the failed policy we have in Iraq and the incredible cost it bears to Americas economy.  More important is the burden and long term damage this occupation is causing our troops and their families.   The instability caused for Iraqis and the inability of America to deal with real problems that face us here at home and in the world abroad are an urgent matter that needs to be dealt with now.

The big government vs. small government debate will still be there when this is over.
