Joe Klein: The Democrats may resort to Al Gore

My belief that Al Gore will likely be the Democrat nominee is picking up support from some big time Democrats. Joe Klein of Time Magazine is throwing the idea out there. As more people in the party ranks realize Obama can’t win the election against McCain, they will slowly start to realize that a Gore-Obama ticket (maybe Gore-Clinton but I doubt that) will be the only way to win come November.

  1. Joe Klein is a fiction writer. O could still get knee-capped by the Clinton Family, but he’ll sweep Johnny Hundred Years in November.

It’s generational. Every president from JFK to George Herbert Bush was born in the first quarter of the 20th century. They held the ball for over thirty years until baby-boomers, Clinton and Bush, gained posession. O is Generation X, and his election will be another passing of the torch. John McCain was born in the second quarter of the century, a decade before the post-war boomers; it is a generation that has never been represented in the White House, over shadowed by the “greatest generation” before them, and over whelmed by the baby-boomers behind.
