The Hildebeast is Finished

With Barack’s crushing win in North Carolina and Hillary’s narrow escape in Indiana, the nomination is decided.  The super delegates will start publicly flocking to Barack to gain favor, no longer fearing (overmuch) her political power.  I won’t be suprised if enough do it to put him over the top before he is embarrasingly beaten like a drum in West Virgina and Kentucky (which will happen anyway, but will not be well covered).  I’m sure the city of Denver will breathe a sigh of relief if he’s got it sewn up before he gets there.  It is probably for the best in terms of the political process; whether it’s best for the nation will take quite awhile to determine.

Still, Operation Chaos and Hillary’s tenacity had the benefit of finally beginning to treat Barack like any other candidate; treating him any other way would truly be racist.  The guy is an inexperienced Chicago machine politician with a very liberal voting record (such as it is). That should be issues of more import that the genetics involved.

I doubt the GOP could have possibly pulled that off without the MSM and the Dems painting McCain as something new generation klansman.  Indeed, I expect the age question to slowly evolve to implied painting of McCain with some of his generation’s racial intolerance and a need for payback (which is ridiculous, but does anybody expect the MSM to permit real issues in November?)

As for Hillary, she probably will not formally fold, just go into maintenance mode.  She has a chance to become a Senate leader (Ted Kennedy’s successor, hopefully) if she cranks it way down now.

Those of us whose contempt for the Clintons political antics long preceded this campaign can take some satisfaction in the justice of her aborted coronation and Bill reduced in the last days to running around out in tiny rural towns like a country constable drumming up support.  And the fact we made use of them in the process.

Many thanks for your service, Hillary; you may go now.

  1. “Many thanks for your service, Hillary; you may go now.”
Nothing wrong with wishful thinking there Mike. But from what I hear and read, she’s not going anywhere yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ClintonMachine tweaks this out and ends up as the Dems nominee.

  2. She will not give up no matter what anyone says.

Hillary Clinton won Indiana because of Rush Limbaugh–the win was small enough that he can take most of the credit for keeping her alive.

The Clintons will not let Barack take it away from them. She will dominate in Kentucky and West Virginia, giving her just enough excuse to stay in and demand for Michigan and Florida’s delegates to be counted. Rush Limbaugh will convince the superdelegates that Obama is a flawed candidate that cannot win against McCain.

And then we will have our first female president.

  3. She’s toast. The Clintons will find a graceful way to bow out — perhaps, as has been suggested, on a high note after W. Virginia and Kentucky. Like a baseball team with a losing record, playing out the string in September, they have to give the fans a show, but the games are meaningless.

Look for Bill Richardson to get the veep spot. He has the resume, the name recognition, regional appeal, and most important, puts the hispanic vote in play — a huge factor for Florida, not to mention a weak spot in Obama’s demographic support. Oh, and he is lacking in charisma — can’t have the Veep outshine the boss on the stump.

  4. Lance - The dems aren’t tuning into Rush. Besides, he is just an entertainer, after all. I’ve gotten a big kick out of Op Chaos, too, but the fact is chaos is the natural condition of the Democrats. Rush saw the parade and got in front of it, waving pom-poms and pretending he was the Grand Marshall.

  5. Operation Chaos was John McCain voters supporting Hillary in the primaries, not the Democrats.

And the superdelegates do listen to Rush. influential people do, though they would never admit it.

  6. Hillary is out of money. That is what will drive the decision now.

Lance, I wouldn’t have figured you for a dittohead. A rabid Clintonphobe, clearly, but a dittohead?????????

Maybe Limbaugh can continue Operation Chaos into the general election and have republicans write in Hillary then.
