Obama defeats Clinton . . . and Limbaugh, Coulter, Fox News and Friends (some friends) et al
Barack Obama advances much closer to the Democratic nomination for President as he roundly defeats Hillary Clinton in North Carolina and wins a morale victory in Indiana. But Obama didn’t just defeat Hillary Clinton, but he also defeated Rush Limbaugh and his merry band of followers such as Ann Coulter and the cast of Fox Friends (some friends). So Limbaugh says. Rush Limbaugh has now achieved the height of pomposity.
He is full of himself.
If you want to see what “hot air” looks like, take a peak at Rush Limbaugh (and the photo below). Hot air in human form. Rush Limbaugh actually believes that he is influencing this election. His plan, he says, is falling into place. Limbaugh wants to create chaos and internal fighting and says he would like the candidates to “bloody” each other. If that is true, and I don’t believe it is, then Obama can make a good case to the super delegates saying “Limbaugh’s minions helped Hillary therefore her support won’t be there in the general election. They are Limbaugh’s people.” Yes, Limbaugh has people. To quote the George Peppard character, Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, in the television series The A Team, “I love when a plan comes together.”
Rush Limbaugh, the self-appointed Commander-in-Chief of Operation Chaos, is puffing on his immense cigar and gloating at this very moment in his Florida bunker. And preparing to celebrate two more grand and glorious political victories over Democrats today, no matter who wins the primaries in Indiana and Florida.
Usually as shy and retiring as, say, P.T. Barnum, the influential conservative radio talk-show host is in his bombastic element these past couple of months, ordering many of his 12 million-plus obedient daily listeners to switch their voting registration presumably from the Republican party and go cast a ballot wherever they are for Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Not because he suddenly likes her after all these years of anti-Clinton rants. Nor, judging by what he’s said on the air, because he’s a huge fan of the presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, who isn’t conservative enough for the broadcaster.
Oh please, Mr. Limbaugh. So you don’t really like Hillary, but you are encouraging your followers to vote for her. Oh, and they come out in droves and fell over each other trying to vote for Hillary simply because Rush Limbaugh said so. What?
Oh, if it were only that simple.
One of my favorite Rush Limbaugh lines is by comedian Al Franken (who is running for the United States Senate in Minnesota) who said he apologizes to Limbaugh for calling his 1998 book “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot.” Franken loves to point out that he didn’t mean to call him fat.
