  1. I’m not sure of your point….. He is only saying what just about everybody is thinking. Americans do use to much gas and Americans do eat to much. Don’t take me wrong I am not an Obamaniac. But on this quote I do agree.

  2. Of course, he does this while living in a mansion (whose temperature I assume is not all that uncomfortable) and driving around in SUVs himself. But it’s not for us peons.

  3. Americans do eat too much, but what is Obama’s proposed solution?

  4. Jslef: To limit our calorie intake, of course! Government regulators making sure you don’t consume more than 1500 a day!

Norm: The point is this shows he wants to control our lives via government. That government is the solution and not the problem is a wrong belief in my opinion.

  5. Whaaattt????

The point is that we need to lead by example. That is the point by inference and by what he said.

As an example, World Food prices are going up to some degree because the Chinese are eating more meat. Are we to tell them they need to cut back on pork and chicken in between sucking down a coke and taking a bite out of a Quad Stacker Burger King Burger?

  6. Government needs to get out of the picture and prices would immediately begin to fall. Governments hold food prices high.

  7. Nothing in that article indicated anything about calling for government control here. If you want to provide further example for your point, I’d love to see it…but he’s right. If we’re going to ask other countries to cut down on emissions, then we need to lead by example. We’re a country living in excess.

  8. And he’s an individual living in excess, advising others not to. It’s called hypocrisy.

  9. Agreed, he and Al Gore need to practice more of what they preach.

  10. Hypocritical messengers don’t make the truth more or less relevant. Calling Al Gore hypocritical is ad hominem, and contributes nothing to the debate. Maybe we should lower emissions with regulation, or maybe we shouldn’t. I don’t know if we should or not, but I think economic and environmental arguments are more valid than whether or not Al Gore uses a private jet.
