The Obama ‘Under the Bus’ Executive Summary

The ‘Under the Bus’ catchphrase- according to liberals- is being overused, so should now be dropped. Of course, if their political Messiah Obama would quit committing the act, the phrase for that action would not be being over used. For simplicity, I will create an Executive Summary listing, which may need updating (at least weekly at the rate Barack is working).

Bottom line (to paraphrase ‘Jaws’): “We’re going to need a bigger bus!”

Who and what has gone under the bus so far:

Is it any surprise that (no matter how much lipstick they slap on this statistical pig) that the percentage of Clinotnistas leaning toward McCain (23-24%) is unchanged in several months? We’ll see if Obama’s newly ‘Hired Help’ can (or want to) change that.

Commentors are welcome to add to the ‘Bus’ list; Reading and/or Ryan can start their own McCain list, though I imagine it would be need updating far less frequently.

  1. You could add women in headscarves.
President Clinton and his administration, legacy.
People who believe that you should count the votes and every vote should count (Florida & Michigan voters)
    People who believe what
Franklyn D. Roosevelt said “Rules are not sacred…principles are”.
Small town people who cling to their guns & religion.
Women who have fought all their lives so their daughters, mothers and sisters would not be discriminated against, sexism, misogyny.
Hard working Americans who are losing their jobs to undocumented workers, or having their wages cut.

  2. He pretty much threw rural America under the bus

  3. The objection to the “under the bus” phrase is not that it’s an inappropriate phrase, but that the people that use it, like you, seem to have no idea what the term means. Throwing someone “under the bus” describes when you publically disparage a former associate.

It takes a mighty exercise in creative thinking to imagine how anyone could throw a campaign prop (the seal) or a policy position (FISA) under the proverbial bus. Once you go there, “under the bus” becomes synonymous with mere rejection, and we could easily compile a list a mile long for any politician.

Of your list, the only item which potentially merits the term is Wright. With Wright being the only substantial point, I’m curious about the reason for the list–commentators like you denounced Wright and demanded he be placed in a sub-bus position, and then turn around to accuse Obama of…doing what you wanted?

“Liberals” complain about the phrase not because it’s inaccurate (Obama did throw Wright under the bus; Wright deserved it), but because writers like you can’t be bothered to figure out definitions. “Under the bus” is quickly becoming yet another fixture in the echo chamber, sounding endlessly, and meaninglessly, with the other time-honored classics of “flip-flip,” “liberal,” and “terrorism.”

  4. And his grandmother, going by your definition. But I don’t think it’s used wrong here. One can easily use it in a symbolic sense to include “non people”. Like Obama used to associate himself with certain positions on public finance and FISA, but he dumped them.

  6. As far as I can see, “Under the bus” has been used very accurately. I’m sure there’s a few hundred victims that haven’t been listed. I guess the bus has a mulching machine under it or monster truck tires for everybody to fit there.
Why can’t we just toss obama under a volkswagen and have the bus towed away? It would be a lot easier.
Instead of everyone living in a yellow submarine, we’re going to have the entire US and many other parts of the world under there pretty soon.
The only positive thing that can be said about obama is “He has one hell of a big bus”.
