I did enjoy the movie ‘Wanted’ (even as my son and I laughed at the unending violations in the laws of physics), but it is a concern that this particular movie will trigger other mass killings. It has all the same touchpoints of the ‘Matrix’ (which served as a triggering image for the sick pair at Columbine) and it’s clear that Hollywood has not learned the lessons of glorifying violence by ‘deadenders’, any more than the News Media has.
Basically, the story line involves a less-than-average schmuck, stuck in a painful dead-end job, with an unsatisfactory social life suddenly gets to be this all-powerful, super-cool savior with hot cars and hot women. This is primarily accomplished by piling up a large body count, based on some mystical need for these people to die. Considering the number of antisocial types already living the vast majority of their lives in virtual worlds of fiction, I will not be surprised if people start showing up at the gun range trying to ‘curve the bullet’ (And let me be in the next county when they do!).
Will Hollywood be at fault if someone uses this as their triggerpoint? No; it still falls on the individual not ‘society’ or ‘culture’ to take responsibility for ones actions. But, being these same Hollywood types are the first ones to absolve the individual for doing bad things, what will be their response if this movie is emulated in the next big headline killings?
I can easily compare the outlandishness of this movie to the farce ‘Shoot ‘em Up’. The problem is, ‘Wanted’ doesn’t openly portray itself as a farce, burying itself in layers of suave coolness; therefore, it will do a hundred times the box office. And is a hundred times as likely to end up mentioned in the analysis of a Page One story.
One final comment without being a spoiler: Angeline Joline’s last shot could serve an academic purpose: I could see an entire final exam in advanced physics comprised of listing all the violations of physical law involved in the path of the bullet. And a thesis could be done on calculating all the velocities and additional force vectors needed to make it actually work

I read a recent statistic that the majority of these events happen when children either go on or off potentially unnecessary medication. Maybe the accusatory finger should go toward Big Pharm before it goes toward Hollywood, although I do agree the final responsibility goes toward the individual.
Big Pharm has a lot less to do with it than people who can’t be bothered with rambunctious kids. Using dope to ease parental responsibility falls again on the individual. My kid could have easily been diagnosed as ADD; parenting took care of it, which would work in the majority of cases.
Part of the entire recreational/convenience medical business that is doing as much to crush health care as anything.
We should just ban guns from everywhere, it’s the logical action to take.
….
And end up like Washington, DC?? That’ll work.
How about allowing conceal and open carry everywhere, encouraging it when possible.
Yes it will In fact im going to kill atleast 20 people on Tuesday September 2nd at Moon Area High School, in Pittsburgh, PA with 3 pther people using matrix style moves and a gun that and kill people from 20 miles away =O
lawlz
If it was the fault of a movie, everyone who watched the movie would be doing the same thing. Simple logic states there has to be something else. Could it be the person is CRAZY? Don’t be so quick to throw blame around as you said yourself its the individual who is responsible. You should have left it at that.
