Maybe his fictional grasp on history is what endeared Joe with Barack:

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘look, here’s what happened.’”

For the Obamatrons, this might come as a shock but the crash occurred three years before FDR’s election and TV didn’t exist.  TV celebrity Katie Couric couldn’t have thrown a softer pitch and she didn’t even blink when he clocked himself with it.  One lightweight deserves another.
