Government mandated slaughter of over 600,000 Americans and Confederates is more American. Actually, perhaps nowadays it really is more American. We have enjoyed drafting people and sending them to the meat grinder to halt peoples right to self determination for quite some time now. I guess the British fighting colonialists to crush their secession was indeed an American thing to do. What makes this even more amusing is that Allahpundit just recently whined about Obama’s plan for mandatory service. But according to him, mandatory service is “American” (or maybe only when it involves killing others).
Their collective obsession with bashing one individual is oddly reminiscent of Two Minutes Hate from George Orwell’s 1984 … hmm.
