Ahmadinejad’s unstable bluster along with claims of nuclear weapons capability, historic and recurring fears of multi-national destruction in the Middle East are higher than ever. There is the potential for a Cuban-Missile-Crisis like confrontation between the United States and the Castro of Persia.

The Pentagon is shifting spending from other programs to fast forward the development and procurement of the Massive Ordnance Penetrator. The Pentagon comptroller sent a request to shift the funds to the House and Senate Appropriations and Armed Services Committees over the summer. Continued …

To: President Obama and the Democratic National Committee: Mr. President; Ladies and Gentlemen: With regard to recent events both domestic and foreign, I must assure you in the strongest terms that you are unequivocally playing with danger. Since taking office, you have confused our allies, insulted our friends, bewildered the American public, ducked serious issues, [...]

What are the diplomatic and geopolitical repercussions of Obama’s decision? Aside from the asinine timing of the announcement – on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s invasion of Poland – who gains from this change in policy? The U.S. does, marginally, according to the Pentagon, but Putin’s Russia and Ahmadinejad’s Iran are the greatest beneficiaries.

There is now talk that the israelis are indeed considering a strike on Iran, with or without U.S. cooperation, the possibility discussed here previously in a ‘Gray scenario’. The timing would be right: low oil price, a new focus on Islamic terrorism because of Mumbai, and the transition status of American administrations. The israelis have [...]

What are we supposed to do about Iran’s nuclear fuel? Absolutely nothing. The best thing we could do for the Iranian government is to start attacking them verbally or economically. Any pro American sentiment will quickly disappear as the population at large switches to an “America is the Great Satan” viewpoint for daring to attack [...]

Reports of Israeli aircraft upgrades and American naval force movements raise the concern that action might be upcoming. Add to that that the Chinese are having their own problem with extremist Muslims themselves (China is one of the only two powers that Iranians can count on for international backup). Things may get really ugly before [...]

Obama says that he “got the feeling from his talks” in Europe that if the trade sanctions don’t work, Israel will be attacking Iran. This goes back to my believe that even if Obama is president, there will be no condemntation of an attack on Iran–if anything I expect Obama to go along with it [...]

McCain might start World War III (calling the Cold War or the War on Terror a third world war is wrong), but note this is coming from an Iranian press agency and the person being quoted is often considered the “man standing behind Obama”. “Well, if McCain is president and if his Secretary of State [...]

I told Mike it wasn’t a joke made in good humor–a poor taste of civility (poking fun here, folks). Anyway, it’s upset some Iranians, but since the Iranians quoted are from the government, they automatically equate it with genocide. This is what happens when you get the McCain making remarks and the ever-boastful Iranian regime [...]

What are the Israeli’s warplanes practicing for? Obviously a quick, one time shot at as many Iranian targets as they can find. I don’t think this will wait for the next president. Will it happen before or after the elections? And depending on which, who will it help the most? If Iran gets attacked before [...]

One day after threatening to strike Tel Aviv and United States interests if attacked, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were reported on Wednesday to have test-fired nine missiles, including one which Tehran claims has the range to reach Israel. State-run media, quoted by Western news agencies, said the missiles were long- and medium-range projectiles, among them a [...]

Sheryl Longin made me stare at the screen in disbelief for about ten seconds. In her rant on Pat Buchanan where she makes the case that Iran is a warmongering state, she writes: But how does Buchanan come to his conclusion that Iran does not want a war? I’ll let him speak for himself on [...]

Philip Giraldi on the Iran blockade resolution: The mainstream media has been almost completely silent regarding the latest move to punish Iran in the form of House Resolution 362, which is moving rapidly through the system and will undoubtedly be passed by a large margin in congress. The resolution, written by Gary Ackerman, chairman of [...]

The coming Iran attack may or may not be by the United States. If Bush doesn’t do it by January, it will be done by Israel. I’ve heard Rush Limbaugh say Iran will be taken care of before Bush leaves office and I believe him. It may be nothing more than air strikes on some [...]

A senior ayatollah was asked if the United States will attack Iran. “Definitely not,” he replied. “But President Bush has vowed that Iran will not have a nuclear program and he insists that he will use his military to stop us if necessary,” came the reply. “It’s like this,” explained the ayatollah, “Mr. Bush invaded Afghanistan [...]

With the U.S. military thinly by a host of deployments – Iraq, Afghanistan, Japan, and Korea to name a few – will the waning Bush administration risk another costly military conflict? Months ago, I would have said no way. The administration has been bogged down trying to defend the cost of our continued presence in [...]

Market forces are predicting a war in Iran, I suspect. Speculators would obviously bid up the price of oil if they think a major conflict will come soon. Philip Giraldi at the American Conservative: There is considerable speculation and buzz in Washington today suggesting that the National Security Council has agreed in principle to proceed [...]

World War III Predictions
I still believe that the world is ripe for a third world war. Some disagree and say that we will probably never have another one. I’m not so sure. Oil supplies are crucial as far as governments go. Some people in high places have certain (bad) principles that they refuse to turn from. This is [...]
